  • About Rock Creek Park

Rock Creek Park is truly a gem in our nation's capital. It offers visitors opportunity to reflect and soothe their spirits through the beauty of nature. Fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals, the ebb and flow of Rock Creek, and thousands of years of human history emanate the delicate aura of the forest. We invite you to Find Yourself in Rock Creek Park and help celebrate our 125th Anniversary.

At Rock Creek Park, you can relax and enjoy many activities. Picnicking, tennis, golf, hiking trails, biking, and horseback riding are all available within the park. While Rock Creek Park is one of 400 parks in the National Park System, it is the only one with a planetarium. You may also visit our many historic sites around the city including a 19th century mill complex, a neo-classically designed park, several civil war forts, and one of the oldest houses in Washington.

Information about these activities can be obtained at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center. Feel free to call us, select one of the links below, or visit us on the web at www.nps.gov/rocr. There you will also find information on volunteering with the park or our many partners to keep the park clean and free of invasive species as well as our monthly calendar of ranger programs which you may receive via email. Thank you for visiting.
